Paleo Chocolate Heart Cakes


  • 7.5 oz or about 1 cup of finely chopped 99% unsweetened baking chocolate (or any chocolate)

  • 3 tbsp unsweetened cacao powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1 1/4 cup chopped dates, or about 10-12 dates

  • 3 large eggs

  • 1/4 cup butter

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract


  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. In a food processor, pulse chocolate, cacao powder and baking soda until texture of coarse sand.

  3. Add in and blend pitted dates, then eggs, butter, and vanilla extract.

  4. Blend and pulse until smooth.

  5. Pour your batter into a 8x8 inch greased baking dish (we used mini heart ones for Valentines day).

  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes, depending on preference.

  7. Allow to cool or enjoy hot and gooey.

Tip: Drizzle warm peanut butter on top and sprinkle cacao powder on top.
